The Champions League is football’s top club competition in Europe, and naturally, Champions League betting sites are extremely popular. Originally called the European Champions Clubs’ Cup, the competition commenced in 1955 and was won in its first five seasons by Spanish giants Real Madrid. In 1991 it expanded into The Champions League so that clubs beyond domestic champions were able to compete in it. This page will tell you all you need to know about the best Champions League betting sites that are available in the UK.

The Best Champions League Betting Sites in the UK

Here is a quick rundown of what we think to be the best Champions League betting sites available to sports bettors in the UK, and one reason why we think they number among the best.

  1. BetUK – Our number one choice for Champions League Betting
  2. SpreadEx – Get into Champions League spread betting
  3. Bet Storm – Cashback deals on your Champions League betting
  4. 888sport – Number one Champions League betting app
  5. Betfred – Long-established name and one of the best
  6. Betway – Sponsors West Ham (who will never been in the Champions League)
  7. BoyleSports – Number one Champions League Betting site in Ireland
  8. 10bet – Boost your Champions League accas
  9. Kwiff – User-freindly interface for Champions League betting

The Best Champions League Betting Sites in the UK

You’ve now had a brief introduction to the best betting sites in the UK for Champions League betting, but now it’s time to get to know at least half of them a little better. Here for you now are mini reviews of the top five best Champions League betting sites in the UK.

1. BetUK – Bet £10, Get £30 in Free Bets

A look at the BetUK online football betting site

Surprises do happen in the Champions League, such as Nottingham Forest winning it twice (okay, its previous incarnation as the European Champion Clubs’ Cup ) in 1979 and 1980, and you may be surprised to see BetUK topping our list of the best Champions League betting sites in the UK. If you look around this amazing site though, your surprise will diminish.

This is a fine site that is very, very easy to use. Just a few minutes on this site and you will be able to work out why we’ve gone for BetUK as our number one choice, and not one of the big boys. It has extensive coverage of the UEFA Champions league, including dozens of markets for every UCL game played. There are usually plenty of football betting offers here too, including that ‘bet £10, get £10’ deal for new customers. We are happy to hand our UCL vote of confidence to the BetUK online sports betting site.

Pros:

  • Our number one Champions League betting site
  • Get the latest Champions League betting tips
  • Boost your profits five times every week
  • Free bet club available
  • Lots of other football and non-football markets

Cons:

  • We’d like to see a greater number of promos

2. SpreadEx – 2 x £5 Free Bets, Plus £300 in Cashback

champions league betting sites - SpreadEx

If you really are a Champions League betting tips expert, then you’ll get more for your money spread betting. To put it simply, the ‘more right’ you are with your bet, the more money you will make. Conversely, the ‘more wrong’ you are with your wager, the more money you will lose. Fortunately, you can place ‘stop loss’ limits on your betting to stop you becoming skint too quickly if you’re a wagering dunderhead. There are only a few spread betting sites available in the UK, and SpreadEx is the number one by far.

Don’t worry if spread betting sounds a little too complicated as SpreadEx doubles as a fixed odds betting site as well. Every Champions League match is incredibly well covered, with all the expected markets available for all games. If you want to get into spread betting but are not sure about it, why not try fixed odds betting at SpreadEx first and see how you do?

Pros:

  • The UK’s number one spread betting site
  • Fixed odds betting too
  • Chunky welcome offer available
  • Plenty of other regular deals
  • Very good with responsible gambling

Cons:

  • Spread betting can be hard to understand for some markets

3. BetStorm – Bet £10, Get £10

football betting sites - betstorm home page

Bet Storm is one of a number of sports betting sites run by industry experts ProgressPlay, who are based in Malta but who are fully licensed to run their sports betting activities in the UK. We like all the sites under ProgressPlay’s banner, but we’ve chosen Bet Storm as the best even though all these top sites kind of look and function the same. We’re just a sucker for Bet Storm’s colour scheme, we guess.

The Bet Storm sports book is another that is very easy to use – just find the sport you want to bet on (in this case, football of course) and then the event (Champions League) and finally the match. Your options will expand across the screen so you can switch matches in a split second instead of constantly back-tracking. There’s a regular supply of deals and promotions too – hopefully enough for you to place Bet Storm on your own ‘best Champions League betting sites’ list.

Pros:

  • Very easy to use site, works very well
  • Constant stream of different offers
  • If you know your stuff, you will rise up the leaderboards
  • Live, in-play section deserves your attention

Cons:

  • A bigger welcome offer would be nice

4. 888sport – Bet £10, Get £30 in Free Bets

The 888 champions league bet

We’d like to give you 888 reasons why 888sport makes it onto our list of the best Champions League betting sites, but you’ll have to be content with just a handful. This company has been around since 2008, and have always been at the top of everything they do – sports betting, casino, poker and bingo, 888 do a little bit of everything, and everything very well.

Whenever we review an 888 site we always find ourselves inclined to give the 888sport betting app a mention. It really is exceptional and even if you don’t like betting apps eating up your valuable phone space, we suggest that you at least download it and give it a try. There’s no easier way to place your Champions League bets, and you’ll soon wonder how you ever placed bets without it!

Pros:

  • Our number one choice for a Champions League betting app
  • Always has something of interest for UCL fans
  • Coverage of all global football matches
  • Plenty of other sports covered too
  • A brilliant choice for live betting

Cons:

  • Customer service can be slow to respond

5. Betfred – Bet £10, Get £30 in Free Bets

A look at the homepage of Betfred

Good old Fred Done began his bookie business back in 1967, and he’s still going strong (nearing 80 at the time of this mini review) and his betting business is going strong too. He’s not done bad for himself either, amassing a personal fortune of £1.2 billlion! Fred Done loves a bit of football, and he and his site particularly love Champions League football (although a bit less though as his beloved Manchester United are no quite the UCL shoo-ins they used to be!).

The Betfred site is one of the best in the business and its Champions League coverage is absolutely top notch. All matches are covered and you can place bets on dozens of markets, including live markets. The site has a welcome bonus of course and we suggest you pop back when the latest round of UCL matches is taking place as some kind of special deal is bound to be available.

Pros:

  • All UCL markets available – more than most!
  • Colourful, easy-to-use site
  • Free-to-enter contests
  • Very good for horse racing and virtual sports
  • Bonuses and more

Cons:

  • Site can run slowly at times

6. Betway – £30 Free Bet for 1st Football Acca Loses

BetWay champions league betting

Ever since its launch, Betway is still going strong thanks to its high-quality wagering options. Expect to wager on a ton of sports market including superb odds and lines on the Champions League. The sportsbook offers a great selection of bets and other options, such as in-play wagering on all major sports. Having the latter option on a cutting-edge sportsbook is a big plus when talking about the best Champions League betting sites UK.

On top of that, you can access in-season sports like basketball, football, hockey, tennis, NBA, UFC, NHL, NFL, the Premier League, as well as eSports and other niche options like darts, cricket, floorball, Gaelic sports, and more.

Sports betting fans will like it here, not just for its huge market and great odds but BetWay’s bonus and promotion offers are something to look into. New bettors can kickoff wagering with the bookie’s matched bet of up to £30 if their first bet is a loser. Even more, you’ll get offers for betting on eSports, free bets, parlays and odds boost. With that said, you want to stake that £10 to get in on the bag!

Pros:

  • Live betting and live casino
  • Massive market selection
  • Enhanced odds and early cashouts
  • Solid eSports offers

Cons:

  • Not available in the US
  • Can only contact customer support through live chat

How to Select the Best Champions League Bookie

UCL bettingWe’ve given you our choices for the best Champions League betting sites in the UK, but what if you’d prefer to go your own way? How do you decide what makes a good Champions League betting site, and which Champions League Betting sites are best avoided? Here are details of the criteria we use when deciding upon the best sites at which to place your Champions League bets, and we hope you find them useful.

  • Stick to Safe and Legitimate Sites

It’s actually very easy to stick to safe and legitimate sites in the UK, so be thankful that you’re not in a more ‘wild west’ jurisdiction such as Africa or Asia! Any Champions League betting site available to people in the UK MUST have a valid UK Gambling Commission licence, pure and simple. Check that any site that you intend to gamble at has one, and that it is currently valid (which you can easily do at the UKGC website).

  • Looks for Sites with Plenty of Markets

Although you are mainly or solely going to be using your Champions League betting site for Champions League betting, it will pay you to check around for the other sports and markets that are available at the site. The more available markets a site has, the better the site. This is an easy ‘rule’ to remember.

  • Decent Sites have Plenty of Bonuses and Promotions

You can easily gauge a site’s ‘generosity’ by looking at the number of bonuses and promotions it has available. Basically, the more generous a site is towards it clientele, the bigger the benefits that are likely to be coming your way. Look out for a decent welcome bonus with fair T&Cs, and a stream of ongoing bonuses for regular site users.

  • Check the Odds to See if They’re Competitive

One basic rule of betting that you’re probably already aware of is that the better the odds you receive for your bet, the more money you will make. You can check the odds of any site you use against the odds of sites you already use to make sure they are nicely competitive. Look for sites which promise ‘best odds guaranteed’ as that means the odds they offer cannot be bettered at any alternative site.

  • Extra Features = Extra Satisfaction

Sites should be more than just a place where you place your Champions League bets. The best sites have extra features such as enhanced odds deals and bet builders. For extra layers of satisfaction, how about virtual sports markets or free-to-enter ‘predict the score’ games, plus, if you are really into your (responsible!) gambling then a side order of casino games would not go amiss either.

  • Site Usability is Key

Not everyone wants to spend hours pouring over the latest Champions League betting odds – some already know upon which games they want to bet, so they just want to get in, get their bets on and get out again. For them, site usability is key – if sites or football betting apps make it a little awkward to make a bet, then site users are likely to be looking elsewhere. This usability factor extends to any Champions League betting app too.

Champions League Betting Odds

We’ve already mentioned that getting the best odds for your bets is absolutely crucial. The better the odds, the bigger the profits – it really is as simple as that! Here we have selected the five bookies we think offer the best odds for Champions League betting. We have also listed the top runners in the 2022/23 UCL Champions League race so you can see the Champions League winners betting odds available for each from all our top Champions League betting sites.

Team BetUK SpreadEx Bet Storm 888sport Betfred
Manchester City 9/4 2/1 2/1 2/1 2/1

Popular Champions League Betting Markets

There are lots of betting markets for the Champions League, mainly as the Champions League is the most popular club competition in Europe (and not to say the world). Here’s a handy list of many of the most popular:

Champions League Outright Betting

You can start your UEFA Champions League betting in the most obvious way possible, and that’s by being right with your Champions League winner betting predictions! Remember to get your outright Champions League winner betting wagers on at the start of the season as that’s when you’ll get the most beneficial Champions League winners betting odds.

To Reach the Final

Kind of like an ‘each way’ bet in horse racing, you can ‘hedge’ your Champions League betting predictions by backing your selection to at least reach the final, or back a secondary team that at least reaches the final more often than most even if they don’t even win, such as Liverpool, Real Madrid or Chelsea.

Top Scorer

As an interesting side bet you can back the individual who will end the Champions League season with the most goals. We aren’t going to tell you who to back for the 2022/23, but if it’s not Erling Haaland, you might just be wasting your money!

David Petersen profile-image
David Petersen

Back an English Side to Reach the Final

English teams don’t always win the Champions League, but at least one of them always seems to make the final. Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all reached the UCL final in the last few years. At the stand of the season, you can back up your UCL bets by betting that an English side will reach the final of that season’s competition.

1X2

The standard way of football betting is to back one of the two sides to win, or for the game to end in a draw. Remember that as with all cup finals, your bet will only count for the first 90 minutes, so extra time and penalties (when played) do not count.

BTTS

BTTS stands for Both Teams to Score and is a bet as to whether you think at least one side will keep a clean sheet (BTTS – yes) or not (BTTS – no). Again, this bet only counts for 90 minutes.

Over/Under (2.5)

A bet on any individual match on the amount of goals that will be scored in the game. You can actually bet on any over/under number of goals, but over/under 2.5 is the most common. Again, over 90 minutes only.

Champions League Draw Betting

At some sites you can even indulge in Champions League draw betting – predicting which teams will be drawn together either in a group or tie. As such draws are largely random, we advise you not to place your life savings on Champions League draw betting.

Champions League Final Betting

Naturally, hours and hours of Champions League football betting has to lead somewhere, and it leads to the eventual final which is the richest single club match in global football. The 2022/23 final will be played at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey and of course all of Europe’s elite football teams will be competing to see if they can make it all the way to the final.

For 2022/23 Champitons League final betting it is really difficult to see past Manchester City. With the signing of global superstar Erling Haaland City finally have the kind of top-class striker they’ve been lacking since Sergio Aguero left them, with the Norwegian wonder-forward already achieving a ‘goals per game’ average that’s well over one. City’s season depends upon Haaland remaining fit, although Julian Alvarez looks to be a very able, if different deputy.

Most money seems to be on PSG reaching the final alongside City. PSG continue to under-achieve despite now boasting the talents of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in their side, along with the (admittedly ageing) duo of Sergio Ramos and Leo Messi. With Christophe Galtier having now taken over from Mauricio Pochettino, could this finally be the season where the French team finally end their UCL drought, so why not back them as part of your Champions League final betting strategy?

Champions League Betting Offers

In the UK, you can usually find Champions League betting offers available at UK bookmakers with every round of group stage matches, and when the competition reaches its knockout phase. They are usually in the form of enhanced odds deals – better odds on UK teams winning than you would normally receive. Before you get too excited it is worth noting that any money you win ‘over the odds’ with these types of UEFA Champions League betting offers is usually paid out as bonus money that you can only use to place further bets, and not money that you can withdraw and spend elsewhere.

You can of course also use the welcomes bonuses offered by UK bookmakers for your Champions League bets. Here now are details of the welcome bonus offered by our number one choice of the best Champions League betting site.

betuklogo 3

BetUK Welcome Offer – £20 in Free Bets When You Bet £10. Full T&C’s Apply. 7 days to claim and stake £10 minimum bet at odds of 1.5 or greater to qualify. Free, void, cashed out or partially cashed out bets do not qualify. Max 3 x £10 Free Bets credited when you opt in by clicking the claim button on my offers page. Once the offer is claimed, place your qualifying bet, after the qualifying bet is settled, you will receive your free bets. Free bets must be used on 4 or more selections and are non-withdrawable and stake not returned with winnings. 7 day expiry.

Champions League Betting Predictions

Here are now our expert predictions for the 2022/23 season, including our betting on Champions League final tips. Which club captain do we think will be lifting the famous old trophy in Istanbul on the 10th of June, 2023?

Manchester City

Manchester City are the bookies favourites for the 2022/23 competition, but we are not so sure. True, City now have Erling Haaland spearheading their attack, but the Etihad Stadium residents never seem to make it to the final hurdle and when they did, they still lost (in 2021) to the lesser-talented Chelsea. We can’t see them even making it to the final.

Paris Saint-Germain

It seems bizarre that Paris Saint-Germain have never won the UCL, and that’s despite being funded by Qatari money. Despite the Mbappe-Neymar combo upfront, we can’t see this season ending in anything other than failure too. The latest PSG hotseat occupant is Christopher Galtier, and he has too little experience at this level.

David Petersen profile-image
David Petersen

Bet on Erling Haaland to be the 2022/23 top goalscorer

As the EPL are discovering, Erling Haaland may not be of planet Earth. The Norweigan wonder-striker could be the greatest goalscorer since Pele. Haaland already has 26 UCL goals (as the time of writing), which is only 1 less than Luis Suarez and 4 less than Wayne Rooney, and he’s only 22. If you’re not backing Erling to be the top UCL scorer this season, then what is wrong with you?

Liverpool

Liverpool have been the top English side in the UCL (and the European Cup) since the late 1970s, and we think they can reach the final again just like last year. The side are struggling to fill the void created by Sadio Mane’s departure, with Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez all failing to convince, but their European pedigree is so good we think they’ve enough about them to reach Istanbul in June.

Real Madrid

We’re going to be really boring here and declare that the 2022/23 final will be an exact repeat of the 2023/24 one, and with the same outcome. Every season the leading UCL-winners are discounted from further success and most seasons they still making it at least to the final. They started La Liga season with six wins, and we think any side with Carlos Ancelotti at the helm (except Everton) is a side to be reckoned with. If you’re betting on Champions League matches this season, we reckon Real Madrid could go all the way.

Chelsea

It came as no surprise when Thomas Tuchel was sacked at Chelsea manager in September 2022. Not because Tuchel had underachieved (he had won the UCL for Chelsea in 2021) but because Chelsea change their managers more often than most people change their bedsheets. Replacement Graham Potter has no European pedigree whatsover, so we feel Chelsea can be discounted completely for the 2023 UCL.

Bayern Munich

It must be boring being a Bayern Munich fan. The German side have just won their tenth succesive Bundesliga title, yet they’ve only won the UCL once during that time. Of course Bayern will win the Bundesliga again but the UCL is a different matter, especially as their talismatic striker Robert Lewandowski is now (somehow) playing for (reportedly on the verge of bankruptcy) Barcelona.

5 Ultimate Champions League Betting Tips

Want to get the most out of you Champions League betting in the UK? There here are our betting expert’s top Champions League tips that are designing to hopefully enable you to do just that.

Tip 1: Do Your Homework

Teams do occasionally dominate European football such as Real Madrid in the late 1950s and Liverpool in the late 1970s/early 1980s, but that happens rarely. Becoming the top dog in Europe is a tough ask as any of around a dozen teams have a genuine shout of winning the UCL. You need to study all analytics carefully to get the most out of your UEFA Champions League betting rather than listening to your gut or even worst, your heart.

Tip 2: Keep an Eye on Your Betting

Just like with any form of betting, you always remember your wins a lot more than your losses. To keep a level head and a realisitic picture of your profits (or lack of them), keep records of every penny that you place on your Champions League bets, and a running tally of your current situation. If y0u constantly record far more losses than wins, perhaps it’s time to concede that Champions League betting is not just for you.

Tip 3: Go Beyond the ‘1X2’

As we have already explained, there is a lot more to Champions League football betting that simply backing the winners of each match. Both BTTS and over/under are brilliant markets if you know your stuff. Two sides with dazzling strikers but leaking defences? Then BTTS – yes and over 2.5 goals are the bets to go for. Tight defences and goal-shy forwards make the opposite bets more attractive.

Tip 4: Look for Value

The best betting experts are those who seek value from their bets. This is where the probabilty of an event does not match the odds given. If you are 90 percent certain that Manchester City will triumph over Tottenham in a QF match, but the odds are only Evens (50 percent) then there’s 40 percent of value ready for you to take advantage of.

Tip 5: Use Bonuses and Promotions

Let’s make two things clear – first, you are not ever going to get rich betting using bonus cash and second, bonus cash is not the free football bet and money some people think it is. Having said that though, bonus cash is a useful tool offered by the best Champions League betting sites that you can use to try out any betting system you wish to put in place before you start parting with genuine cash.

FAQs

When does the Champions League take place?

The qualifying stages take place in June and July each year, with the final Champions League play-offs in August. The group stages run from September to November, after which the competition takes a break. The knockout phase starts in February and continues right up until the final itself in June.

How many UEFA Champions League betting sites should I use?

You can use one, or you can use as many as you like. It's best to use sites that offer the best odds, and ones that offer bonuses and UCL-related bonuses on a regular basis.

Can I perform Champions League outright betting after the Champions League has started?

You can bet on the winner of the Champions League at any stage of the competition, from before the first ball has been clicked right up until the 89th minute of the final itself (unless the market has been suspended).

Can I place a UEFA Champions League acca?

Indeed you can, but we do recommend that you do not go overboard. We think four selections is the maximum for an acca, no matter the tastiness of the overall odds. The more selections you have, the more chance your bet has of failing.

What happens if my top scorer finishes second?

The your bet, sadly, is a failing one. Some sites do have deals where if your choice finishes second you get your stake back as a free bet, so look out for those.

I backed Manchester City to beat Liverpool and they did so after extra time but my bet still lost. What happened?

As you've mentioned AET we're guessing the scores were tied after 90 minutes. With cup football, the score at 90 minutes is the final result accepted by online bookmakers.
